Arrival by public transport:

Express boat from Stavanger city center and ferry or express boat from Judaberg pier. On foot or by bike. The distance from the pier to Sæbøvåg is 4 km. Come on foot, by bike, car, or rent a taxi.

 

Arrival by car:

Ferry from Judaberg pier, Finnøy, to Fogn, and from the pier to Sæbøvåg.

 

Parking:

There are several parking options on Fogn: the pier, the church, Joker Fogn, Sæbøvåg, and at Erås. There is also parking at Judaberg.

 

Arrival by boat:

The FOGN Experience has a guest space on its own pier for customers. There are also guest spaces inside the bay and at the outer part of Sæbøvåg Boat Association. Several parking spaces are available here as well.

Where can one stay:

There are many hotels and camping options in the region, and gradually more rental offerings on Fogn, through common rental channels like finn.no and airbnb.com. The idyllic Skomakerhuset, located near Sæbøvåg, can be rented by the night on booking.com. Many also camp in their own boats around the archipelago on Fogn.

 

The FOGN Experience offers the rental of Kjellerstuen, furnished in the old shop, ideal for 2, with a mini-kitchen, bathroom with shower, a fireplace, and a private garden area for outdoor grilling.

 

It is possible to rent a boat space and rent an old-fashioned rowboat with a trailer.

Other things to do while visiting Fogn.

 

Hikes.

There are several hiking routes on the island, but in 2022, the daycabin Ørnakula.

The cabin is located on the island’s highest peak, Ørnakula, 166 meters above sea level. From here you can enjoy the fantastic view over Ryfylke, while you warm your feet by the wood stove in the cabin.

 

If the fog causes poor visibility, the family can relax with some reading material in the cabin. The solar panel gives you reading light.

Walking distance: 08- 2.5km. The cabin has a toilet.

 

Beach and swimming.

There are several beaches for the public around the island, and Norway has its own laws regarding shorelines, which cannot impede free passage and access to the sea despite private property. It is recommended, however, to show consideration for permanent residents and cabin owners regarding their docks and facilities.

 

There are areas with grazing animals, and here one must be careful to close gates and keep dogs on a leash at all times.
