Travel of the Eye
Travel of the Eye is a tribute to the nature of humanity, the inner landscape. It describes the sensory; the eye’s journey as it takes in nature, surroundings, light, dynamics, and the relationships between form, light, and color. It is a journey through the inner landscapes, with thoughts, feelings, ideas, friendships, and love, beautiful growth emerging from the mind and the eye that looks inward and outward.
The series of 20 graphic sheets, in an edition of 100 copies each, is printed at the traditional Atelier Clot Bramsen in Paris. The technique involves drawing with surfaces scanned from the artist’s original lithographs, and Pia Myrvold refers to the technique as digilitho.

Fluid Identity
Fluid Identities is a series of originals painted in 2023 during an art residency in Villa Joyosa, Spain. The artist utilizes handmade, high-quality watercolor paper, initially working with a base layer of acrylic paint, water, and spray paint to achieve a fluid and dynamic expression. Once these paintings are dry, she employs drip painting techniques, using industrial lacquer paint to create a sculptural effect on the surface of the paper.
The title reflects Pia Myrvold’s artistic journey, where she has been exploring “Multiple Realities” since 1986 and the “Fluid Identities” series since 1991.

Paintings TIMEPIECES
The paintings in the series “Time Pieces,” initiated in 1988 and ongoing until 2024, constitute a central part of Pia Myrvold’s artistic production. These paintings, with their schematic and abstracted forms and structures, have laid the foundation for works she has later created in areas such as smart technology, robot kinetic sculpture, and projects involving sensor-based surfaces.
Early in her career, Pia Myrvold was recognized as one of Norway’s foremost colorists, and in “Time Pieces,” the use of color is a significant component of the artistic expression. The artist generates a vibrant chromatic atmosphere amplified by optical patterns and Op-Art references.
All paintings are executed with high-quality acrylic paint from Lascaux, chosen for its exceptional pigment density, brightness, and colorfastness. Due to this meticulous approach, the artist produces only 20-30 paintings per year.
If you are interested in the series, please make an inquiry. Many of these are already sold out. It is possible to order works based on previous motifs, with a delivery time of 3-6 months. Prices range from 25,000 to 250,000 NOK, depending on size.
Monotypies
Montypier is a series of graphic prints created using plates or stencils, where each print is uniquely
executed and considered an original. Since the early ’80s, Pia Myrvold has produced many series of monotypes, and since 2016, she has created series using stencils and high-quality paper from Arches or Somerset. The prints are made with high-quality acrylic paint from Lascaux, chosen for its exceptional pigment density, brightness, and colorfastness.
Motifs that recur include the Venus symbol, a reference to the historical work “Transforming Venus,” presented at the Venice Biennale in 2011 within the independent pavilion Flow, a work in motion. Pia Myrvold’s animated Venus represents the first digital Venus, seamlessly integrating into art history from The Venus of Willendorf into the digital age. The artwork has been exhibited at various venues, including Centre Pompidou, Venice Biennale in 2011 and 2023, Stenersen Museum in Oslo, and Pace Beijing.
The artist appreciates the primitive and painterly approach to the reference work and in the monotypes, incorporating texture and employing techniques such as finger painting, sponges, and large paintbrushes.

New Forest
This is one of several series created after 2005, when Pia Myrvold began using Photoshop. She has compiled an archive library with over 5000 photos, ranging from nature and surroundings to synthetic motifs, where she has scanned drawings, flowing paint, and 3D forms created in tools such as 3Dmax, Cinema4D, or Unreal Engine.
Many of the forms are gathered from other projects, where objects are animated shapes for videos and projects in VR. “New Forest” utilizes wire forms from 2007, created as form studies for a project for the Stavanger Art Museum soloshow In-Formation, where she designed avatars visiting a replica of the Lars Hertervig collection in VR. This is a significant work in Norwegian art history, being the first artist to present a public art collection presented in the Metaverse.
“New Forest” is an abstract theme, evoking the sensation of entering a landscape of form and color. The artist has a work titled “New Forest,” representing an immersive landscape in a VR version. If you are interested in one or more of the prints, please request a PDF with sizes and prices, ranging from 4 500 to 8 000 NOK.
The Sumerians on Holiday
The project “The Sumerians on Holiday” began in 2019 as an endeavor where Pia Myrvold utilized her expertise as a designer and textile artist. The first costume was presented at a conference at the Macro Contemporary Museum in Rome, featuring Isabella Steinsdotter as the performance artist. Subsequently, two costumes were showcased in the GAD program of the 2019 Venice Biennale, coinciding with Pia Myrvold’s solo exhibition “Time Machine.”
Since then, the family and narrative surrounding the character series have evolved. Today, there are more than 12 families, each with a distinct story and unique characteristics. Pia Myrvold has conducted performances in Norway, Spain, France, England, Thailand, and “The Sumerians on Holiday” are always intrigued by human activities, encompassing music, dance, art, and everything not created by technology. They may be equally interested in fishing, agriculture, or nature as they are in art, architecture, history, fashion, hair, makeup, or cultural phenomena.
In 2022, Pia Myrvold launched the first graphic series and paintings based on photos from performative situations, processed thematically and chromatically in Photoshop. The series continues to evolve, and several videos have been created, including one from Forus Travbane in 2022, where “The Sumerians on Holiday” participated in a unique harness racing event titled “A Day at the Hippodrome.”
